Understanding and managing the impact of the oil & gas and petrochemical industries on the local environment and communities is a basic requirement of the business, or part of the ‘license to operate’. This course is uniquely designed for the industry needs around the ‘Fundamental Application’ level of the PetroSkills environmental competency map. It aims to equip participants with a working knowledge of environmental risk management and how to apply this in their respective roles. A rich variety of exercises, readings, and case studies are used to practice application of the learning in realistic situations. The focus will be on practical methods and approaches for conducting community impact assessments and developing skills in risk communication. Case studies, examples, and exercises will be provided to ensure practical relevance to participants’ experience.
